Over the last one and a half year I used pkgs I run into all king of
issues - maybe some of them where meta-packages issues and it depends
which your target platform is (10.3 above for me), but I lost my trust
a little...
Btw, the trunk version of sparkle use the GUI Install.app, you maybe
need to change this to the terminal installer that it run in the
background.
