[Sparkle] Sparkle awesome, but why not rsync?

Hello Sparklers!

I have seen Sparkle in action as an end-user, and now that my Mac app
is ready to go I'd love to add something like this.

So I went to the Sparkle home page, tried to read up on the
conspiracy, searched the mailing list archives for rsync... couldn't
find anything.

So I'm sorry if this is a frequently-asked question, but why can't
AppCasts be extended to use rsync? Do you already use rsync?

At the moment, my main application is a wrapper around some other
code; I'm mostly developing a Mac "app" in AppleScript and Python. The
wrappers check on startup to see if we've got the most-recent version.
They could also start an rsync update of the major application bits...

Am I completely awry? (well, yes, but about sparkle i mean...)

Thanks!
